Steam, Valve’s cash cow, is one of the oldest and largest platforms dedicated to PC gaming. Originally designed as a vehicle for downloading patches for Counter-Strike and other titles, Steam has evolved into a store that boasts an incredibly deep video game catalog, a slick recommendation engine, movies, and much more. Admittedly, Steam has several nagging issues, including poor customer service, but if you game on a PC, it’s hard to ignore this juggernaut. I reviewed Steam on a Windows 10-based computer, but Valve also offers Steam clients for Mac, mobile, and its own Linux-based SteamOS operating system.
